We were fortunate to receive funding from the Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire at LEBC (Leicestershire Education Business Company), in collaboration with the National STEM Learning Organisation, to take Class 1 to the East Midlands Airport Aerozone and Aeropark on Tuesday this week.
Our trip began with a tour of the Aeropark, where we had the opportunity to explore the interiors of some planes and helicopters, and even enter a cockpit to learn about flying a plane. The volunteers conducting our tours shared their expertise with us and answered all our questions, such as how jet planes operate and how the wheels of a plane retract automatically. Class 1 also enjoyed watching the airplanes take off and land on the adjacent runway. The next part of our trip took place at the Aerozone, where we had the chance to role-play various airport jobs, including Cabin Crew, Air Traffic Control, Baggage Handlers, and Airport Security. We had a fantastic day and learned so much about airport life.
