Our Approach to Learning

Our Reception and Year 1/Year 2  children learn within two spacious, connected classrooms that provide a balance of high-quality teaching and purposeful play-based learning. This unique environment allows children to move seamlessly between focused learning and carefully planned active learning opportunities throughout the day.

We are committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive and stimulating environment where every child feels safe, valued and supported to achieve their best. Our approach helps children develop confidence, independence and strong foundations for future learning.

How We Teach

Children follow a carefully planned curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.

  • Phonics and Mathematics are taught in groups matched to children's stages of development, ensuring learning is appropriately targeted and progressive.

  • English is taught as a whole class, with activities adapted to meet the needs of each year group.

  • Foundation subjects are often taught through shared learning experiences, with different levels of challenge and support provided to ensure all children make progress.

Alongside direct teaching, children benefit from high-quality continuous provision, enabling them to practise and apply their learning through exploration, creativity and purposeful play.

What children need each day

To help every child feel prepared and ready to learn, we ask that they bring:

  • Water Bottle

  • Reading Book

  • Reading Diary

Staying Connected

We use the Class Dojo app to share updates, celebrate achievements and keep families informed about the wonderful learning taking place each day.

We are expected to practise our times tables and/or division facts daily and will be tested on the ones we are working on every Friday.  We can use Times Tables Rock Stars  and Purple Mash to help us practise.

We have a Home Learning book that each week we complete a task linked to our current learning. These tasks will be set on a Friday and expected back in by the following Thursday.
