Our Christian Vision
As a Church of England School we carry our Christian vision and values through all that we do.
Our vision and values are central to supporting our small school community where every child is encouraged to flourish. We want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to shine, recognising that each individual is precious in the eyes of God.
Our vision "Where every child is a star" is inspired by Philippians 2:15 as "children of God you shine like stars".
In the Bible, Paul the Apostle’s letter to the Philippians (2:15) says that believers should be “blameless and pure… then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.”
The emphasis is not on being the brightest or the best, but on living in a way that reflects God’s love and brings light to others. Paul speaks with encouragement to live lives of integrity, compassion and service. Every child of God, whether child or adult, is recognised as having unique God-given worth and potential.
The school’s role is to encourage each individual to flourish in confidence, character, compassion and learning so they can shine in their own way and be a positive influence on those around them.
The vision reflects the belief that everyone:
· is valued equally.
· has God-given gifts that can be recognised and developed to flourish.
· are encouraged to shine through kindness, integrity, service and resilience.
The school community helps each individual to become a light to others, living out our Christian values.
The values that support our vision
Our STAR values are taken directly from Paul’s encouragement to live lives of integrity, compassion and service. These are also linked to other verses from the Bible.
S – Service to God, each other and ourselves. (Luke 10: 33-34)
T – Truth is always the best way. (1 John 3:18)
A – Agape is the highest form of love – selfless and kind. (Mark 12:31)
R – Respect for ourselves, others and the environment. (Matthew 7:12)
