We started our cricket season with our annual match vs our friends over at Willow Brook. This match was for both teams to gain match experience before heading to the Keyworth CC Primary Schools tournament. Well done to Willow Brook who came out winners, winning the game 118 - 77 - all the children had a great time and played really well against a strong team.
The girls cricket team then headed over to Radcliffe On Trent to participate in a tournament hosted by Nottinghamshire CC. Up against lots of other Rushcliffe schools, the girls performed superbly - winning 2 games and finishing overall in joint 3rd place. Well done girls, what a fantastic achievement.
The final stop on our cricketing adventures for the year came at the Keyworth tournament. We started off the morning winning both our games:
- Costock 89-60 Bunny B
- Costock 90-14 St Edmund Campion D
Scoring an impressive 179 runs across the two games meant that we were placed into group 3 for the afternoon matches, competing for the plate trophy which we were looking to retain after our success last year!
Beating St Edmund Campion B by141-77 runs in the semi-final, we then met Kinoulton in the final. We came away victorious, winning the game 101-43!!
A special mention to Harry M, who came 2nd out of 170 pupils in both the wicket taking and most run awards. Also, to Beatrice who won one of the lunchtimes catching competitions, beating all the other girls at the tournament earning herself an extra medal and a cap!
We are incredibly proud of the entire team for representing the school so well! Winning a trophy for two consecutive years is a remarkable accomplishment. Congratulations also to Willow Brook for winning the group 1 competition on the day, demonstrating that practice and hard work truly pay off.
Well done all!
